Caption: Thermographic footage of ice cooling a glass of water. The thermographic camera reveals the temperature of the ice and water, with black being cold, through blue, green and yellow to red being warmest. Once the ice is added to the glass the clip is sped up to show the cooling effect. Ice floats on water, but cold water is more dense than warm water, so the meltwater and the water cooled by the ice sink to the bottom of the glass. Eventually the entire glass is cold, and black.
