Caption: Pedro Castello Ginesta (1770-1850), Spanish physician. Castello studied at the University of Cervera and then the Royal College of Surgery of Barcelona. He first became a royal surgeon in 1801, later becoming personal physician to King Ferdinand VII of Spain. His awards included the Order of Charles III and the Order of Isabella the Catholic (both medals displayed on his left chest), along with the Sacred Military Constantinian Order of Saint George (also displayed). This portrait, dating from circa 1829 and believed to be by Vicente Lopez, is held at the Faculty of Medicine of the Complutense University of Madrid, Spain.
