Caption: InSight Mars lander. Computer artwork of NASA's planned 2016 InSight (Interior Exploration using Seismic Investigations, Geodesy and Heat Transport) mission to study the early geological evolution of Mars. The lander's seismometer (SEIS, Seismic Experiment for Interior Structure) with its Wind and Thermal Shield (WTS) has been deployed at right. The heat flow probe (HP3, Heat Flow and Physical Properties Package) has been deployed at left (probe inserted into ground). Other instruments include the RISE (Rotation and Interior Structure Experiment) antennae, and the TWINS (Temperature and Winds for InSight) environmental sensors.
