Caption: PowerBuoy. PowerBuoy is a power station for generating electrical energy from wave power, manufactured by Ocean Power Technologies (OPT). The rising and falling of the waves causes the buoy to move up and down, with the resultant mechanical stroking driving an electrical generator. The generated wave power is transmitted to the shore via an underwater power cable. Photographed off the coast of Scotland, UK.
