Caption: Small Magellanic Cloud. Composite image of the tip of the 'wing' of the Small Magellanic Cloud, with other distant galaxies, located hundreds of millions of light-years or more away, seen around the edge of the image. The Small Magellanic Cloud is a small galaxy that lies about 200,000 light-years from Earth. Imaged by NASA's Chandra X-ray Observatory (purple) with optical data from the Hubble Space Telescope (red, green and blue) and infrared observations from the Spitzer Space Telescope (also red).
