Caption: Cancerous intestinal polyp. Light micrograph of a section through a cancerous (malignant) polyp in the rectum. Polyps are usually benign (non-cancerous) growths that grow in the colon and other places in the gastrointestinal tract. However, they are usually removed because of their tendency to become malignant and to lead to colorectal cancer, as in this case.
