Caption: Alligator in swamp. American alligators (Alligator mississippiensis) are carnivorous reptiles. They can reach over 4.5 metres in length, and are found in wetland areas all along the US coast of the Gulf of Mexico. Photographed in November, in the Lower Kenta Canal of Barataria Preserve, a part of Jean Lafitte National Historical Park and Preserve, near Crown Point, Louisiana USA.
