Caption: MODEL RELEASED. A wafer of sapphire substrate carrying a one-molecule thick layer of molybdenum disulphide, produced by chemical vapour deposition (CVD). It has been produced by a team led by Dr. Kevin Huang at the Optoelectronics Research centre at the University of Southampton using chemical vapour deposition technology. Molybdenum disulphide as a one-molecule layer has been found to have properties similar to those of graphene.
