Caption: Clouds over Gulf of Alaska, satellite image. North is at top. The southern coast of Alaska at at upper centre, with large cyclonic clouds over the Gulf of Alaska and the north-eastern Pacific Ocean. These clouds were associated with a low-pressure system. A phytoplankton bloom (dark green traces) is just visible off of the Alaskan coast. This composite was obtained on 2 May 2014 by the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) on NASA's Aqua satellite.
