Caption: Marcasite. Marcasite, an iron-sulphide (FeS2) mineral, similar to pyrite but falling in the orthorhombic crystal system. Crystals are often tablet-shaped with a terraced arrangement. It is sometimes called white iron pyrite. Marcasite jewellery is actually made of pyrite rather than marcasite mineral.
