Caption: Dry ice and pH meter. Footage of a pH probe and meter being used to measure the pH levels in a reaction involving dry ice (frozen carbon dioxide, CO2). At the start of the clip, dry ice is added to water (H2O). Most of the dry ice sublimates (turns from a solid into a gas) to form the characteristic 'fog' formed by dry ice as water vapour in the air condenses on the cold CO2. Some of the carbon dioxide dissolves in the water to form carbonic acid (H2CO3). The meter display shows the pH decreasing as the acid forms.
