Caption: Bone cancer. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scan of the knees of a patient with osteosarcoma (centre left) of the upper end of the right tibia (shinbone). Osteosarcoma is a highly malignant cancer that is more common in young people. It usually starts in a long bone and spreads rapidly. To prevent spread, removal of part of the affected bone or even amputation of the limb may be required.
