Caption: Echus Chasma on Mars, satellite image. This area of a canyon floor on Mars shows an intersection of several fractures, with a viscous lava flow that appears to have filled in part of the canyon floor. The depth of Echus Chasma varies between 1 and 4 kilometres. This image, published in 2013, was obtained by the High Resolution Imaging Science Experiment (HiRISE) instrument on NASA's Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter (MRO) satellite.
