Caption: Penis bones. Preserved specimens of the penis bones of a domestic dog (Canis lupus familiaris), a coatimundi (Nasua narica), a kinkajou (Poto flavus, cercoleptes caudivolvulus), and a red fox (Vulpes vulpes). The penis bone, also called the os penis or baculum, is a bone found in the penis of many mammals (but absent in humans). The bone is located above the urethra and helps maintain stiffness during sexual penetration.
