Caption: Brain haemorrhage. X-ray of the head of a child after a subdural haematoma. A haematoma is a localised collection of blood outside of the blood vessels. Subdural haematomas are a form of haematoma where blood collects between the brain and the dura mater - the outermost of the three meninges membranes that surround the brain. They are usually associated with traumatic brain injury.
