Caption: Roggeveld Mountains, South Africa, radar satellite image. This mountain range forms the western edge of the Roggeveld plateau in South Africa's Northern Cape Province. Its highest peak is Sneeukrans (1739 metres). This radar image is part of the WorldDEM radar maps generated using data from the TanDEM-X (TerraSAR-X add-on for Digital Elevation Measurement) satellite. Like the TerraSAR satellite, it uses SAR (Synthetic Aperture Radar) to produce highly accurate radar maps, able to produce a relative vertical accuracy of 2 metres. TanDEM-X was launched in 2010, with WorldDEM images made available from 2014.
