Caption: Houses of Parliament, London, UK. This view looks east from Parliament Square. Also known as the Palace of Westminster, these buildings on the bank of the River Thames in the City of Westminster in London, are the seat of the UK government. The tower at left is the clock tower (96 metres tall) that houses the bell Big Ben. The tower and main buildings were constructed over 30 years from 1840. They were built in the Gothic Revival style to designs by the architects Charles Barry and Augustus Pugin. At lower right is Westminster Hall, the oldest part of the complex of the Palace of Westminster, and originally erected in 1097. Photographed on 7 August 2014.
