Caption: Soviet cosmonaut Pavel Popovich (1930-2009) preparing for medical testing in a centrifuge. Popovich was one of the first men to be launched into space. He flew the solo Vostok 4 mission from 12-15th August 1962, orbiting the Earth 48 times. In 1974 he commanded the Soyuz 14 mission. Photographed in Russia, in 1974.
