Differential interference contrast light microscopy of golden algae (Synura sphagnicola) colonies from a small moor puddle. These motile freshwater algae form spherical colonies. Each cell has two chloroplasts, two flagella of a different lengths, and is covered with silica scales. Captured field width: 0.26 millimetres.
