Caption: Cross-section illustration of transmission of visual information. The transmission of visual information takes place from the retina, via the optic nerve and to the visual cortex. Some information crosses the brain's horizontal axis (decussation) at the optic chiasma, while other information is unilateral. All the visual information then arrives at the left and right lateral geniculate bodies, cerebral relays which transmit visual information to other neurons. These then transmit the information to the primary, left and right visual cortexes.
