Caption: Delegates at a conference on Medical History. Among the delegates seen here are George Corner (1889-1981), US anatomist, and Richard Shyrock (1893-1972, second from right), US medical historian. Corner is best known for his work on the function of hormones in the female reproductive system, which led to the discovery of progesterone. This discovery was key to the development of the birth-control pill. Photographed at the Wellcome Library, London, UK, in August 1967.
