Caption: Doedicurus prehistoric mammal. Computer illustration of a Doedicurus sp. prehistoric mammal (large, left) compared to two modern armadillos (Dasypus novemcinctus). This herbivorous glyptodont lived around 11000 years ago, from the Pleistocene epoch to the end of the last ice age, in what is now South America. It reached a length of around 4 metres, much larger than its modern-day relative the armadillo.
