Caption: E-Cat cold fusion research. Researchers monitoring the E-Cat (Energy Catalyzer) cold fusion (Low-Energy Nuclear Reaction, LENR) system. The reactions take place at 300 to 400 degrees Celsius, with a claimed generation of a megawatt of energy by the full system. E-Cat is a system designed by Italian inventor Andrea Rossi (left, born 1950), assisted by Italian physicist Sergio Focardi. It is claimed that the E-Cat system generates energy from a nickel-hydrogen reactor that converts the nickel into copper. Sceptics have rejected these claims and patent applications have failed. This demonstration took place on 6 October 2011, in Bologna, Italy.
