Caption: Chromosome analysis. Researcher analysing human chromosomes using a light microscope and FISH (fluorescence in-situ hybridisation). FISH is a technique that highlights particular genes or chromosomes to check for abnormalities, such as chromosomal pieces that have broken off one chromosome and attached themselves to another. The probes used here were BAC 71G19 (including the INI gene), labelled with SpectrumOrange, and BAC 262A23 (a control gene on chromosome 22), labelled with SpectrumGreen.
