Caption: Sperm whale dissection. This dead male sperm whale (Physeter macrocephalus) was found on Henne Strand, Jutland, Denmark. The specimen measured 14 meters in length and weighed an estimated 30 tonnes. In this image, scientists are cutting into the body. The thick layer of blubber is visible. The tissue samples and skeleton will be removed for further study by the scientists.
