Caption: Construction of the "80-inch" (200 cm) liquid hydrogen bubble chamber at the Brookhaven National Laboratory, Long Island, in 1965. The photo shows the body of the chamber being manoeuvred between the two halves of the magnet. The rectangular structure extending upwards is the "neck" through which the chamber was expanded, a piston being housed in the cylinder above. The 80-inch achieved fame in 1964 when it discovered the omega-minus particle.
