Caption: Astronauts and Apollo 15 moon rock. Collage of images of US astronaut Alan Bean (born 1932, left) and German astronaut Thomas Reiter (born 1958, right) with a moon rock mounted in a transparent pyramid. This rock, a 92 gram piece of basalt, was collected on the Apollo 15 mission by Mission Commander David Scott. Apollo 15 launched on 26th July 1971. It was the fourth mission to land on the moon. Bean was Lunar Module Pilot on the Apollo 12 mission, the second manned mission to land on the Moon. Reiter is one of the top 50 astronauts in terms of total time in space. Photographed in the Gasometer, Oberhausen, Germany on 24th March 2010.
