Caption: Medical sensor research. Researcher testing an advanced design of medical sensor based on hybrid technology using electronic components as chemical sensors on printed circuit boards (PCBs). This allows immediate diagnosis, rather than needing to send samples away for analysis. The device is being developed by nanoelectronics researcher Themis Prodromakis (left) of the University of Southampton, in collaboration with researchers at Imperial College and British company Newbury Electronics. The device was announced in 2014, with prototypes being tested in 2015.
