Caption: African clawed toad skin. Light micrograph of a section through skin from an African clawed toad skin (Xenopus sp.). The skin contains numerous mucous-secreting glands that provide the skin with a protective surface and keeps it moist. Each gland is flask-shaped and lined by cubical or columnar glandular cells that open to the surface. Magnification: x13 when printed 10 centimetres wide.
