Caption: Apollo Soyuz Test Project crew training. US astronaut Thomas Stafford (born 1930, right) with Soviet cosmonaut Alexey Leonov (born 1934, left) inside a Soviet Soyuz orbital module trainer during training for the Apollo Soyuz Test Project (ASTP). The ASTP mission was the first joint international manned space-flight. It took place from 15-24th July 1975. A Russian Soyuz 19 and American Apollo CSM-111 spacecraft docked in orbit on 17th July to test a jointly-designed international docking mechanism. Photographed at the Yuri Gagarin Cosmonaut Training Centre, Star City, Moscow, Russia, in 1975.
