Caption: Soyuz 19 in orbit, astronaut photograph. View of the Russian Soyuz 19 space-craft as seen from the US Apollo spacecraft in Earth orbit during the Apollo Soyuz Test Project (ASTP), showing the orbital module (spherical), descent vehicle (bell-shaped) and instrument assembly module (cylindrical), from which two solar panels (top and bottom) protrude. The ASTP mission was the first joint international manned space-flight. It took place from 15-24th July 1975. The Soyuz 19 and Apollo CSM-111 spacecraft docked in orbit on 17th July to test a jointly-designed international docking mechanism. Photographed by the Apollo crew, in July 1975.
