Caption: Carding wool. A worker cards wool to remove tangles prior to spinning it into yarn. Behind him is a loom for weaving rugs. Lower right is a cactus with white cochineal bugs (Dactylopius coccus) living on it. These insects are used to make the red pigment carmine which is used to dye the wool. Photographed in Oaxaca, Mexico.
