Caption: Tule Elk (Cervus elaphus nannodes) herd in Interior Grassland at the southern end of the San Joaquin Valley. Tule elk have the largest antlers of the three elk subspecies. They once roamed the length of California's interior grassland valleys but their range is greatly limited now by habitat loss due to agricultural development.
