Caption: Water vortex. The vortex has formed due to a stirrer at the bottom of the container. The stirrer accelerates the water, rotating it and forming a fast-moving, low-pressure region at the centre of the vortex. Such stirrers are widely used in chemistry to help to keep reaction solutions well mixed.
