Caption: Uppsala Botanical garden. View across herbaceous borders. The Botanic garden at the University of Uppsala is the oldest in Sweden being founded in 1655 by a professor of medicine. It's function was to help teach students botany and pharmacy. Carl Linnaeus, the father of plant taxonomy, supervised the garden in the mid 18th century whilst teaching at the University.
