Caption: Shipwrecks caused by a strong Pacific storm. Practically every year ships are lost along the shore of Santa Barbara, California, caused by high seas and onshore winds. The anchorage has a sand bottom and is not recommended during winter months. The surf is discoloured by storm runoff from a nearby creek.
