Hydra tentacle. Brightfield illuminated light micrograph of a section through the tentacles of a hydra, showing its stinging cells (cnidocytes). Hydra are small simple predatory fresh-water animals. They catch small swimming crustaceans such as daphnia using stinging and adhesive cells on their tentacles. Magnification: x200 when printed at 10 centimetres wide.
