Compared to other vitamins, vitamin C has the simplest molecular structure. Vitamins are organic substances required by the body in small concentrations. They cannot be synthesised by the body, but must be obtained from the diet. Most fruit & vegetables have a high vitamin C content. The average adult requires 70 milligrams per day, but children & pregnant women need an additional amount. Vitamin C deficiency causes scurvy. Magnification: X 14 at 35mm size.
