Caption: Polytetrafluoroethylene. Molecular model of a chain of the synthetic fluoropolymer polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE), a polymer consisting of chains of the monomer tetrafluoroethylene (C2.F4). PTFE, also known by one of its trade names Teflon, is used as a non-stick coating for pans. Atoms are represented as spheres and are colour-coded: carbon (grey) and fluorine (cyan).
