Caption: Unicorn crestfish (Eumecichthys fiski). X-ray of a section through a unicorn crestfish, showing its 'horn' (left). Crestfish have ribbon-like bodies that contain up to 200 vertebrae and have a soft-rayed dorsal fin with nearly 400 rays. The 'horn' is formed by a protrusion of the skull, capped with a forward extension of the dorsal fin. This specimen measures 62 centimetres in length.
