Caption: Section of part of the nasal cavity with a framework of cartilage (blue) covered with a specialized epithelium (magenta) concerned with olfaction, i.e. the sense of smell and stained pink, some respiratory epithelium which regulates inspired air temperature but is not involved with respiration. The nasal mucosal surfaces are highly folded to increase the surface area over which air is moved. Magnification x70 when printed 10cm wide.
