Caption: Wheel of life allegory. 15th-century illustrated manuscript on medical allegories, part of a set of documents referred to as spiritual encyclopaedias of the Middle Ages. This manuscript page shows a wheel of life turned by a human figure at right, with six figures and stages of life labelled on it. The Gothic script (in Latin and German) is on vellum in black and red ink. This manuscript is part of a collection of pages that were published in southern Germany in around 1410.
