Caption: Sodium oxalate crystals. Cross-polarised light micrograph of grown crystals of sodium oxalate. This sodium salt is only very rarely found occurring naturally as a mineral. Its primary uses are as a standardising agent for potassium permanganate solutions and as an anticoagulant for blood specimens in bottles. Magnification: x19 when printed 10 centimetres wide.
