Caption: Underground horticulture. Farm worker measuring light wavelengths with a spectrophotometer at an underground salad farm. The site, located within disused underground tunnels 33 metres below the surface, uses coloured, energy efficient LED lighting and hydroponics (growing without soil) to grow plants throughout the year. Coloured lighting enables the plants to photosynthesise at maximum efficiency for healthy growth and flavour development. Photographed at Growing Underground, Clapham London.
