Caption: Pavoraja is a genus of skates in the family Rajidae. These skates are known as handsome peacock skates. Skates are cartilaginous fish in the superorder Batoidea of rays. More than 200 species have been described, in 27 genera. The spiny pipehorse, Solegnathus spinosissimus is a pipefish found in the southwest Pacific Ocean on rocky or coral reefs. Pipefishes or pipe-fishes (Syngnathinae) are a subfamily of small fishes, which, together with the seahorses, form the family Syngnathidae. Undated, no illustrator credited.
