Caption: Yi qi dinosaur size comparison. Computer illustration comparing the size and appearance of a Yi qi dinosaur (top) with that of a modern magpie (family Corvidae, bottom). This winged maniraptor lived during the Late Jurassic period (around 161 to 145 million years ago), in what is now China. Its wings were supported by a long bony strut attached to the wrist. This anatomical feature is unique among all known dinosaurs and might mean its wings were similar to that of modern bats.
