Caption: Aerial photograph of Rotspitze, in the Lechtal Alps, Austria. Soft rocks such as the grey and black marls were folded during the Alpine orogeny. Hard rock layers such as the ferriferous rusty red limestone layer in the western flank of the 2837 metre high Rotspitze broke, shifted and were set apart.
