Caption: A molecular model of Acitretin, an oral medication typically used to treat psoriasis. Acitretin is known to have several side effects, and is therefore reserved for very severe cases of psoriasis that do not respond to other treatments. Recent studies have shown that Acitretin may be effective in treating Alzheimer's disease, by stimulating enzyme activity in the brain to reduce levels of amyloid beta-peptides. Atoms are coloured dark gray (carbon), light gray (hydrogen) and red (oxygen).
