Caption: The WA1 neutrino detector in the west experimental area of the Super-Proton-Synchrotron (SPS) accelerator at CERN, Geneva; it consists of a 20 metre long toroidal magnet 3.75 metres in diameter & made up of modules; sandwiched between the modules are drift chambers & scintillator detectors; the detector started taking data in 1976.
