Caption: A zinc metal strip was immersed into a beaker containing a 0.2M copper (II) sulfate solution. Since zinc is more reactive than copper, a single-displacement reaction occurred: Zn + CuSO4 -> Cu + ZnSO4. Here we see the strip seconds after it was put into the beaker (left) and after 10.5 hours (right). Note hydrogen gas bubbles that were produced in a secondary reaction.
